Job summary

Trident Systems, Sterling, VA, seeks a Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Compute to lead architecture, design, and verification of aerospace computing electronics, including flight computers and FPGA-based systems.

The role requires deep hands-on experience with high-speed interfaces, power and signal integrity, radiation-tolerant design, and a track record of guiding hardware development from concept through production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design new aerospace computing electronics, including processor-based systems and FPGA-based systems.
• Develop electrical architectures, schematics, component selections, interface definitions, and board-level designs.
• Perform electrical analyses including worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), component derating, power analysis, timing analysis, SI, and PI.
• Design high-speed interfaces (DDR memory, PCIe, Ethernet, LVDS) and other interfaces.
• Develop radiation-effects-mitigation approaches for space electronics, including component selection and fault tolerance.
• Lead schematic reviews, peer reviews, design reviews, and technical trade studies.
• Prototype bring-up, board-level debug, characterization, and verification using lab equipment.
