Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose seeks a Senior Machinist to own machined parts the engineering teams depend on for testing and flight, bridging engineering and the machine shop. You'll participate in design reviews on Tuesday, dial in fixturing on Wednesday, and own first-article inspection on Friday, ensuring traceability through MES.

Qualifications

• 5+ years machining for aerospace, medical, or other high-precision industries.
• Programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills; CAM (Fusion 360, MasterCAM, or similar).
• Strong metrology fundamentals; comfortable with inspection tools.
• Comfortable with brittle materials (graphite, composites, ceramics).
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual (ITAR).
• Able to achieve security level clearance if needed.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate CNC mills and lathes for flight components.
• Sit in testing and tooling design reviews to flag manufacturability and tolerance issues early.
• develop fixturing, tooling, and processes to produce tooling faster and more efficiently.
• Own first-article and in-process QC for hardware.
• Document via MES; write non-conformance tickets; maintain traceability.
• Train shop team and engineers on tooling and component-specific machining processes.
