Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is seeking a Senior Loads and Dynamics Engineer in the San Diego area (Poway, CA) to lead complex analyses for airframe integrity.

You will develop aeroelastic models, perform flight and ground loads calculations, and support certification efforts across airframes and payload integrations. The role requires extensive FEA experience, familiarity with NASTRAN/ABAQUS, and proficiency in Matlab/Excel/Visual Basic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering with progressive experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles and theory.
• Ability to apply concepts in evolving environment and meet timetables.
• Excellent communication, documentation, presentation and teamwork skills.
• Experience performing FEA on composite airframes/structures.

Responsibilities

• Support design of new products and integrate payloads onto platforms.
• Perform loads and dynamics analysis of aircraft components and systems.
• Develop design and repeated loads for flight, landing and ground operations.
• Create aeroelastic flight loads models and compute aerodynamic/inertial loads.
• Develop vibration criteria and conduct landing and ground load analyses.
• Develop aeroelastic models for flutter and aeroservoelastic analysis.
• Correlate structural dynamics models with ground test data.
• Produce documentation for airworthiness certification to MIL/STA/NAG/FAA standards.
