Job summary

UCLA seeks a Senior Advisor, Student Affairs Mitigators (SAMs) to lead the SAM program, advise students and campus partners on Time, Place, and Manner policies, First Amendment principles, risk management, and campus resources. You will support demonstrations, major events, and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.

This exempt role reports to the Manager, SAMs and collaborates with Labor Relations, EOC, and senior leadership to coordinate real-time safety and compliance efforts across campus.

Qualifications

• Experience in training, compliance, risk management, emergency response, or student affairs (Required).
• Experience coordinating institutional responses to campus protest or time-sensitive student activity (Required).
• Ability to analyze data, evaluate programs, and recommend actions (Required).
• Experience advising student groups or high-risk organizations (Preferred).
• Experience with incident reporting systems or emergency operations (Preferred).
• UC system or comparable public university experience (Preferred).
• Strong project and time management skills with independent prioritization (Required).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the SAM program, educating students, student leaders, and campus partners on TPM policies and First Amendment principles.
• Serve as operational liaison to EOC during demonstrations and major campus events, ensuring safety and continuity.
• Coordinate confidential communications and reporting with Labor Relations and campus leadership in high-pressure situations.
