Job summary

MISO is seeking a Senior Strategic Planning leader to govern and evolve the corporate planning framework, aligning enterprise and functional strategies across the organization. You will drive standardized governance, robust analysis, and executive storytelling to enable informed decision-making.

You will collaborate with business units to ensure planning inputs are prioritized, accurately reflected, and integrated into the enterprise outputs.

Qualifications

• 12-14 years of relevant experience in strategic planning or enterprise governance
• Deep knowledge of strategic planning frameworks
• Strong understanding of financials, business cases, cost modeling and performance measures
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and governance (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid)
• Experience using Gartner, McKinsey Insights, or regulatory/industry reports
• Change management literacy (ADKAR, Kotter, Prosci) and digital transformation concepts
• Advanced facilitation for strategic convergence and crossfunctional alignment
• Excellent executive communication and storytelling skills

Responsibilities

• Govern and continuously improve the Corporate Planning Framework and operating model
• Establish and maintain enterprise planning standards, methodologies, nomenclature, and governance practices
• Collect, validate, translate environmental scanning, industry drivers, risks, regulatory trends into actionable guidance
• Coordinate convergence between enterprise and functional strategies; resolve conflicts and eliminate duplication
• Facilitate planning sessions to drive alignment and create a unified Corporate Plan
• Own corporate plan quality; review objectives, initiatives, measures and documentation
• Govern planning hierarchy, templates, terminology, and artifact publication
• Provide structured executive facilitation, scenario framing and synthesized narratives
• Partner with business units to ensure planning inputs are prioritized and represented
• Align calendars/workflows across strategic planning, headcount planning, performance measures, STI, budgeting
• Measure planning effectiveness and drive continuous improvement to mature capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate planning sessions that drive alignment and support the creation of a unified Corporate Plan.
• Own corporate plan quality, reviewing objectives, initiatives, measures, and documentation for clarity, traceability, and alignment.
• Govern the planning hierarchy, templates, terminology, and artifact publication, promoting a shared planning language across the organization.
• Provide structured executive facilitation, scenario framing, operational assessments, and synthesized strategic narratives.
• Partner with business units to ensure planning inputs are prioritized, feasible, and accurately represented in enterprise outputs.
• Align calendars and workflows across strategic planning, headcount planning, performance measurement, STI development, and financial budgeting.
• Measure planning effectiveness and lead continuous improvement efforts to mature enterprise planning capabilities.

What we are looking for...

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• 12-14 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, enterprise governance, or digital/technology focused planning.
• Deep knowledge of strategic planning frameworks and enterprise planning governance.
• Strong understanding of financials, business cases, cost modeling, and performance measures.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and workflow governance (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
• Experience leveraging research sources such as Gartner, McKinsey Insights, or regulatory/industry reports.
• Changemanagement literacy (ADKAR, Kotter, Prosci) and understanding of digital transformation, automation, and AI/ML concepts.
• Advanced facilitation capabilities for strategic convergence, prioritization, and crossfunctional alignment sessions.
• Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $157,000-$182,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
