Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis seeks a Senior Advisor Scientist to lead the cell line development platform within BR&D, shaping strategy and driving innovation across the large molecule pipeline. You will mentor scientists, influence cross-functional teams, and translate platform advances into faster, robust delivery.

The role requires a Ph.D. with 4+ years in biopharmaceuticals, hands-on mammalian culture, genome editing, automation, and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field with 4+ years in biopharmaceutical industry.
• Hands-on mammalian cell culture, transfection, clone screening, stability assessment, and cell banking.
• Experience integrating lab automation, high-throughput screening, and digital tools into CLD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and deploy emerging molecular, automation, and analytical technologies to increase CLD productivity and product quality.
• Champion AI/ML across the CLD workflow to accelerate clone selection and data-driven decisions.
• Serve as the cell line development lead on cross-functional teams, translating platform advances into faster, more robust delivery across the large molecule pipeline.
• Coach and develop scientists and research staff, establishing best practices and data standards.
• Author and review technical reports and regulatory documentation (IND, BLA) carrying CLD through submission.
• Lead external collaborations with academics and industry consortia to scout and evaluate new CLD technologies.
• Present findings internally and at conferences/publications to strengthen Lilly’s reputation in cell line engineering.
