Job summary

Piston Automotive seeks an Advanced Quality Engineer at its corporate office in Southfield, MI to support QA and program management teams through APQP processes. You will interact with customer supplier quality teams to complete PPAPs, develop MSA plans, and ensure continuous production quality across prototypes to production.

The role requires ensuring quality objectives align with corporate goals, and acting as a strategic thinker with strong organization and planning skills.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience as an Advanced Quality Engineer or related role.
• Bachelor's degree in Business/Engineering or other appropriate discipline.
• Eight years of quality, manufacturing or engineering experience.
• A minimum of five years of experience with Microsoft Office Products at an intermediate level.
• Eight years of negotiation experience.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop Prototype, Pre-production and Production Control Plans for the program and approve supplier control plans.
• Develop the Measurement System Analysis Plan for the program; ensure gauge studies and Gage R&R improvements.
• Implement Manufacturing Quality Systems for prototype, pre-production, and production builds.
• Complete inspection reports for components used in pre-production builds.
• Perform capability studies and document results for program characteristics.
• Coordinate PPAP package preparation and submission.
• Coordinate supplier quality deliverables: CPs, CP studies, PFMEA, DFMEA where applicable.
• Ensure statistical methods are applied in Product and Process Development.
• Resolve customer/supplier quality issues using problem-solving methods (8D, DOE, etc.).
• Develop inspection and containment plans for pre-launch builds.
• Comply with company policies and quality policy.
