Job summary

Phillips 66 is seeking an Advanced Process Control and Automation Sr Engineer in Houston to lead APC applications across multiple gas facilities. You will partner with process engineers and operators, develop and apply best practices, and train site personnel on advanced control tools.

Travel up to 30% and extended hours may be required. The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 7+ years in automation/controls, and strong DCS/PLC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (required).
• “7+ years” of experience in automation, process control, or related technical field.
• Experience with oil & gas processing operations and systems.
• Familiarity with DCS/PLC platforms and APC technology.
• Ability to travel up to 30% and work extended hours when needed.
• Ability to work safely near high-speed machinery and hazardous environments.

Responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and execute APC applications across gas facilities.
• Maintain APC applications and troubleshoot interfaces with base control systems.
• Provide consulting and training to operators and engineers on APC/optimization.
• Develop best-practice standards for APC and optimization tools.
• Translate requirements into practical road maps and project plans.
• Design, configure, test, and optimize control strategies in DCS/PLC environments.
• Support software updates, vendor evaluations, and performance metrics.
