City of Scotts Valley is seeking an advanced Administrative Analyst to provide technical assistance on fiscal, budgetary, contract administration, and policy issues. The role involves independent analysis, staff studies, and presenting reports to the City Council.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in public administration or related field and a minimum of three years' experience at an Administrative Analyst II level. Strong analytical, communication, and IT skills are essential.
Under direction, to provide technical assistance with complex fiscal, budgetary, contract administration and policy issues and problems; to perform analysis of proposed legislation; to assist in the preparation and negotiation of contracts; to perform a variety of delegated assignments and related work as required.
This classification is the advanced journey-level class in the Administrative Analyst series, which works independently in the performance of assignments. It is distinguished from the Administrative Analyst II class in that incumbents are expected to be knowledgeable in and be able to perform the full range of analytical duties in the office as required. The class may perform some of the less difficult duties, but the majority of the time will be devoted to the more complex, unusual and consequential issues and problems. Incumbents serve as a resource to other office staff.
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, economics or a related field from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of three years of experience comparable to classification of Administrative Analyst II, which includes a broad range of analytical assignments. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted based on two years of experience for each year of education.
Possession of a valid California driver's license within 30 days of hire.
Mobility to work in a standard office environment, use standard office equipment and attend off-site meetings. Physical ability to sit or otherwise remain stationary at work post for long periods of time. Manual dexterity to use standard office equipment and supplies and to manipulate both single sheets of paper and large document holders (binders, manuals, etc.); vision to read handwritten and printer materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and by telephone.
