Job summary

The Office of the Bronx County District Attorney seeks experienced Assistant District Attorneys for the Youth Justice Bureau. The role focuses on pursuing justice with integrity while serving a diverse community.

You will train and supervise new attorneys, oversee ECAB operations, review charging and documents, handle inquiries, and coordinate with law enforcement. The shift requirements include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• US citizenship and New York State residency required.
• 4+ years of trial experience or the equivalent; prior management experience preferred.
• 18 months of experience in training or lecturing.
• Ability to work and supervise others in remote settings.
• Excellent people skills and demeanor.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Train newly hired and promoted ADAs, DAT Writers, and Legal Writers in case processing and courtroom practices.
• Supervise the ECAB operations to ensure arrest matters are drafted and arraigned within 24 hours.
• Review legal issues, charging, and facial sufficiency for arrest matters.
• Answer legal questions and review cases drafted by the DAT Unit.
• Handle all telephone inquiries from law enforcement, defense attorneys, and the public.
• Supervise arraignment parts when necessary and address complex matters in court.
• Access the ZOLPA system and prepare Chrono reports to monitor case status.
• Serve as BXDA liaison with Corporation Counsel (Family Court) on adolescent and juvenile matters.
• Work nights (4pm-12am), weekends and holidays as needed.
