Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Train newly hired and promoted Assistant District Attorneys, DAT Writers, and Legal Writers in case processing, interviewing witnesses, case file preparation, and proper courtroom practices and procedures.
• Supervise the daily operation of ECAB, including the Complaint Room, DAT Unit, and Arraignment parts, ensuring arrest matters are drafted and arraigned within 24 hours.
• Examine and review legal issues relating to arrest matters and decide on prosecution based on case facts and relevant case law.
• Review accusatory instruments for accuracy, proper charging, and facial sufficiency.
• Answer legal questions and review cases drafted by the DAT Unit.
• Handle telephone inquiries from OCA, NYPD, other law enforcement, and the public.
• Supervise arraignment parts when needed and address complex matters in court.
• Access ZOLPA and prepare Chrono reports to monitor arrest-to-arraignment timing.
• Serve as BXDA liaison with Corporation Counsel (Family Court) on Adolescent/Juvenile matters.
• Work nights (4pm-12am) and weekends/holidays as needed.
