Job summary

The City of New York’s Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced attorney to supervise attorneys and legal writers in ECAB, including the Complaint Room, DAT Unit and Arraignments. The role emphasizes oversight, staff training, and ensuring timely processing of arrest matters.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of supervisory legal experience and can manage day-to-day operations, draft review, and liaise with partners while working flexible hours as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as an attorney supervising attorneys and legal writers.
• Experience with ECAB, Complaint Room, DAT Unit or Arraignments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Train newly hired and promoted ADAs, DAT Writers, and Legal Writers in case processing and courtroom procedures.
• Supervise ECAB operations including the Complaint Room, DAT Unit and Arraignment parts to ensure 24-hour turnaround.
• Review legal issues arising in arrest matters and decide prosecutions based on facts and law.
• Review accusatory instruments for accuracy and facial sufficiency.
• Answer legal questions and review cases drafted by the DAT Unit.
• Handle inquiries from agencies and the public by phone.
• Supervise arraignment parts and address complex matters in court.
• Access ZOLPA and prepare Chrono reports to monitor case timing.
• Liaise with Corporation Counsel on Adolescent/Juvenile matters.
• Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
