Job summary

Employee Benefits Security Administration is seeking a senior actuary to serve as the Department's principal actuarial advisor on pension, retirement, health, and welfare benefit programs. Qualifications

  • Expertise in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, and risk analysis enabling national authority on pension and employee benefit plans.
  • Ability to convey complex actuarial and policy issues to both technical and non-technical audiences; preparation of technical reports and analyses.
  • Must show Technical Qualifications and provide transcripts; 24 semester hours of relevant coursework is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Department's principal actuarial advisor to senior officials and Congress.
  • Direct actuarial research, analysis, and technical consultation functions.
  • Communicate complex actuarial and policy issues to technical and non-technical audiences at high government/industry levels.
  • Represent the Department as senior actuarial expert in interagency initiatives.
  • Lead development of professional actuarial standards for ERISA-covered plans.
  • Direct a professional staff of actuaries and support personnel, managing resources and budget.
