Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an AD & Associate Actuary to join the Global Specialty US Actuarial pricing team in the Hartford area. The role focuses on Private Company Management Liability, partnering with Underwriting, Finance, Claims and IT to develop pricing, monitor profitability and support rate filings.

Responsibilities include rate development, price monitoring, loss ratio planning and semi-annual reserve studies, leveraging R/SQL and predictive modeling.

Qualifications

• ACAS or near-ACAS preferred; actuarial experience considered.
• Minimum of 4+ years of Property and Casualty actuarial experience.
• Knowledge of actuarial pricing and reserving techniques.
• Strong Excel; proficiency in R/SQL preferred.
• General knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance operations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Independently motivated; strong teamwork across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop pricing methodologies and tools for Underwriting and Product teams.
• Identify pricing and profitability benchmarks.
• Analyze internal pricing results and competitor information.
• Develop and maintain price monitoring systems and tools.
• Apply R/SQL to enhance processes and predictive modeling.
• Collaborate with Actuarial and other teams supporting similar lines of business.
• Foster connections with teammates and key business partners.
• Support financial planning and budgeting, including trend analyses.
• Collaborate with Underwriting to guide strategy.
• Improve data quality procedures.
• Present analyses and recommendations to partners.
