Job summary

Mercor is hiring a senior insurance and actuarial domain expert to join a leading AI lab's GenAI team, driving how frontier models reason about real insurance work. You will review knowledge tasks, write instruction specs and golden solutions, and design benchmarks that reflect actual practice.

You will work with researchers and operate inside client tools as part of the extended team. Location is hybrid in the Bay Area, California; on-site several days weekly.

Qualifications

• Credentials: actuarial credential (FSA/ASA/FCAS/ACAS) or active state license for adjusting, underwriting, or broking.
• Experience: 4+ years in insurance at carrier, reinsurer, broker, or regulator.
• Domain depth: specialization in at least one insurance area.
• Seniority: progression to senior level with ownership of a portfolio.
• AI fluency: hands-on use of LLMs in professional work.
• Availability: 40 hours/week for an initial 6-month engagement.
• Location: Bay Area-based, on-site, willing to relocate at own cost.
• Excellent written communication and ability to give precise feedback.

Responsibilities

• Data QA and reviews: Vet the quality of insurance knowledge work tasks and model outputs.
• Instruction specs and golden datasets: Write specs and golden solutions for insurance problems.
• Benchmarks and domain depth: Design challenging insurance tasks and evaluation sets.
• Calibration: Translate tacit insurance judgment into explicit criteria with researchers.
