Job summary

American Modern Insurance Group, Inc., a Munich Re company, seeks a Principal Data Scientist to own end-to-end personal lines pricing models. This senior technical leader will drive model strategy, develop and monitor predictive models, and mentor junior team members in a hybrid work environment across the US.

Qualifications

• FCAS required; independently build models and analyses.
• Experience with multiple programming languages (R, Python).
• Deep understanding of GLMs and GBMs; strong modeling experience.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts including supervised/unsupervised learning and NLP.
• Experience with big data platforms (Databricks preferred).
• Strong data structures, algorithms, and software design pattern knowledge.
• Experience in agile teams; Scrum/Kanban familiarity.
• Commitment to model testing, validation, and continuous improvement.
• Proven project management and prioritization capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing model strategy for a subset of products.
• Develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain predictive models.
• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and manage filings.
• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts; communicate results clearly.
• Document assumptions, results, and alternatives for regulators as needed.
• Develop best practices and new techniques with internal/external partners.
• Advise on predictive analytics and modeling to support enterprise strategy.
