Job description

Senior Actuarial Analyst

Our not-so-secret sauce. Award-winning, inclusive, Top Workplace culture doesn't happen overnight. It's a result of hard work by extraordinary people. The industry's brightest talent drive our efforts to deliver purposeful work and meaningful impact every day. Learn more about what makes us different and how you can make your mark as a Senior Actuarial Analyst at MMA.

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) provides business insurance, employee health & benefits, retirement, and private client insurance solutions to organizations and individuals seeking limitless possibilities. With offices across North America, we combine the personalized service model of a local consultant with the global resources of the world's leading professional services firm, Marsh (NYSE: MRSH).

A day in the life.

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst on the Employee Health & Benefits team, your day is a mix of hands‑on modeling, collaborative problem solving, and clear communication. You'll spend time building and maintaining analytical tools and locally developed pricing models used nationally across Marsh McLennan Agency to evaluate medical and pharmacy plans. Much of your work involves analyzing drivers of clients' medical and pharmacy costs, preparing projections, and quantifying the financial impact of network or plan design changes. You'll translate complex clinical and actuarial data into actionable insights and deliverables for account teams and client stakeholders.

You'll partner closely with Account Management, Benefit Advisors, and clinical specialists to develop strategic approaches that align with client objectives. That includes advising on recommendations, reviewing results with the team, and supporting implementation discussions with clients. You'll also provide oversight and mentorship to actuarial analysts and support the Director of Actuarial Services in analytical and strategic decision‑making. Occasional travel within the Mid‑Atlantic region may be required to meet clients or collaborate with colleagues in person.

Our future colleague.

We'd love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of actuarial experience with a healthcare and/or insurance focus and completion of at least 4 SOA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) exam requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with demonstrated ability to develop models, manage data, and make actionable recommendations; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑directed, energetic, and deadline‑driven with a strong work ethic; proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and common data management/database applications.
  • Legal work authorization to work in the U.S. on a permanent and ongoing basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

These additional qualifications are a plus, but not required to apply:

  • Current Life & Health licensure or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Prior broker experience.

We know there are excellent candidates who might not check all of these boxes. Don't be shy. If you're close, we'd be very interested in meeting you.

We value and respect the impact our colleagues make every day both inside and outside of work. Our culture promotes colleague well‑being through robust benefits programs and resources, professional and personal development opportunities, and fulfillment through meaningful work.

  • Generous time off, including personal and volunteering.
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.
  • Hybrid work - minimum 3 days in office.
  • Charitable contribution match programs.
  • Stock purchase opportunities.
