Job summary

Marsh McLennan Agency is seeking an Actuarial Analyst in Raleigh, NC, to support analytical tool development and client-facing insights within the Employee Health & Benefits team.

The role focuses on modeling medical and pharmacy costs, driving pricing models, and communicating financial impacts of network changes. Occasional travel across the Mid-Atlantic region is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated through coursework and experience.
  • Completion of at least one actuarial exam is strongly preferred.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and committed; consistently shows initiative and follows through on projects to meet deadlines while working independently.
  • Effective communication, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; data management and database tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical tools and provide support to stakeholders.
  • Model and analyze clients’ medical and pharmacy costs and drivers.
  • Quantify financial impact of network changes using pricing models.
  • Collaborate with clinical and benefit advisors to develop strategic client approaches.
  • Travel within the Mid-Atlantic region as needed.

A day in the life

As our Actuarial Analyst on the Employee Health & Benefits team, you’ll be responsible for analytical tool development and support to a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally with our clients. You will work with a team of clinical and benefit advisors to develop strategic approaches for our clients based on clinical and actuarial data. This position will be integral in all aspects of analysis and modeling of clients’ medical and pharmacy costs and their drivers. In addition, this position will be heavily involved in modeling and communicating the financial impact of changing medical and/or pharmacy networks with our locally developed pricing models that support Marsh McLennan Agency nationally. You may also have occasional travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, as needed.

  • Identifies and implements new processes to enhance company efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Legal work authorization to work in the U.S. on a permanent and ongoing basis without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
Additional qualifications (a plus)
  • Current Life & Health licensure or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • Prior broker experience
