Job summary

Center for Digital Governmtent seeks a Senior Activity Center Director to manage all aspects of a multi-purpose senior center, ensuring quality programs, outreach, and staff leadership within the Department of Aging and Disabilities in Maryland.

The role requires overseeing budget, coordinating with partners, and developing emergency evacuation plans to safeguard seniors and staff. Strong communication and program development skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or related field.
• Two or more years of experience in program management or public aging services.
• Note: substitution can count up to four years of related experience, totaling six or more years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Senior Center staff and volunteers; conducts annual performance evaluations and supports staff development.
• Programs a variety of classes and activities to meet senior participants’ needs.
• Recruits, hires, trains and retains instructors (paid and volunteer).
• Represents the Senior Center in the community and partners; maintains fiscal and administrative oversight of the center budget.
• Performs outreach to seniors and families; informs community groups about programs and services.
• Creates and implements Emergency Evacuation Plans for sheltering and fire evacuations.
• Coordinates facility and grounds management; engages with center staff, county and state stakeholders.
