Job summary

Homewood Living Frederick is seeking a dedicated team member to assist the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator. You will support individual and group activities to meet residents' psychosocial needs and help coordinate daily programs.

Responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality, scheduling outings, and recording attendance. Prior experience with seniors is preferred; a high school diploma is desired and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand English well.
• Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons.
• Ability to listen and to communicate to residents at a level they can understand.
• Ability to and enjoys encouraging and motivating older persons.
• Qualities of creativity, resourcefulness and imagination in planning resident activities.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to drive Homewood's van and has a valid driver's license.
• Experience working with elderly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in carrying out individual and group activities to meet psycho social needs of residents.
• Treats all information about residents as confidential.
• Complies with policies and maintains standards.
• Develops, coordinates and assists residents in programs and activities.
• Guides Reality Orientation activities (announcements, current events, calendars, visuals).
• Schedules use of the van for outings and events.
• Assists in assigning volunteers to activities with supervision.
• Participates in resident care planning when helpful.
• Facilitates functions from outside groups and weekend/evening activities.
• Documents attendance and reports observed changes to the licensed nurse.
• Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
