Our Client, a Financial company, is looking for a Senior Accounting Clerk for their Richmond, VA/Hybrid location.
Responsibilities:
- Performs daily tasks related to payroll tax including, but not limited to, federal and state tax form entry, payroll/tax adjustments, tax variance identification, tax reconciliation, payroll input as needed.
- Completes gross pay to net pay payroll calculations outside of the payroll system and explains the process to associates with questions about their pay.
- Determines the correct local taxation for an associate based on home and work location.
- Reviews payroll system output for errors and makes necessary corrections.
- Assists other HR partners to resolve errors and maintain accurate payroll information.
- Supports HR Help Center representatives in handling payroll tax inquiries.
- Provides guidance to associates regarding their taxes.
- Handles inquiries related to the end-to-end payroll process.
- Performs scheduled and ad-hoc audits of payroll data to ensure compliance.
- Assists with year-end W2 reporting and preparation.
- Maintains regular attendance; overtime may be required based on business needs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with pay and benefit programs.
- Proficiency with Google Suite.
- Strong math skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills (internal team).
- High attention to detail.
- Associate degree.
- At least 1 year of payroll tax experience.
- Experience with Multi-State payroll (5,000+ employees).
- Local tax experience (not specific to Richmond).
- Understanding of gross to net calculations including pre/post tax deductions and taxable benefits.
- Professional certifications such as FPC or CPP are a plus.
- Experience with case management systems, Workday HR System, and ADP Smart Compliance.
- Customer service skills, attention to detail, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
