We are currently hiring an experienced Property Accountant to oversee all financial aspects of our communities. Responsibilities
- Prepare all aspects of the financial statement package, including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger review, and completing balance sheet support schedules.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial packages to Regional Property Managers, Business Managers, and clients.
- Monitor and maintain cash balances.
- Resolve issues and document responses to review comments.
- Review variances in financial statements and explain significant items.
- Prepare management fee calculations and ensure related invoices are paid.
- Complete bi-weekly Inter-Project Account reconciliations and follow up on open issues.
- Ensure timely payments for debt, real estate tax, sales tax, and owner distributions, maintaining internal schedules.
- Verify bank reconciliations are complete and resolve reconciling items promptly.
- Adhere to internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Verify proper input of budget information.
- Handle client audit requests as needed.
- Assist in property setup and transitions, including loading beginning balances, sale pro-ration calculations, and closing entries.
- Make decisions with a general understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to meet results and deadlines.
- Set own project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university, or four+ years of related experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of three years of related experience and/or training preferred; CPA is a plus.
- Ability to analyze and interpret various business documents.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for complex inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to present information to internal groups.
- High commitment to customer service for co-workers and clients.
- Ability to work well under pressure and proactively handle unexpected situations.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and openness to new ideas and procedures.
- Experience with MS Office (Excel) and real estate accounting software (Yardi).
- 4-6 week onboarding training; travel may be required.
