Job summary

Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting under the direction of the Director of Finance.

The role requires strong experience in accounts payable, general ledger, and treasury activities, with a focus on internal controls, staff development, and timely month-end close.

Qualifications

• Minimum of seven (7) years related knowledge, experience, and skills in accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in accounting or a related field is strongly preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Valid State Driver License.
• Due to the significant fiduciary responsibilities of this position, the offer will be contingent on an additional satisfactory credit check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger and treasury activities.
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present results as required.
• Train, motivate, and mentor senior accountants and accountants.
• Assist in budget preparation by calculating, analyzing and preparing financial and statistical reports for department managers and board of directors.
• Assist in end of month closing including reconciliation of certain general ledger accounts.
