Job summary

Wells Group of New York is seeking an Accounting Manager with 5-10 years of experience to join our boutique accounting and financial advisory firm. This role is the equivalent level to a Controller at a small or medium-sized company, and you will lead accounting for multiple client engagements.

You will manage month-end close, prepare financial statements, reports, and KPIs, ensure U.S. GAAP compliance, collaborate with FP&A, A/P, Treasury, IT and Marketing, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA actively licensed.
• 4–8 years of relevant accounting experience; Big Four experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP (U.S.).
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and reports (balance sheets, P&L, management reports).
• Lead month-end close across multiple clients.
• Analyze variances versus plan and prior periods.
• Develop and communicate KPIs; improve internal controls.
• Lead external audit requests and coordinate with auditors.
• Review General Ledger accounts and activity.
• Collaborate with FP&A, A/P, Treasury, IT, and Marketing.
• Identify process improvements and automation.
• Handle ad hoc accounting/finance projects.
• Oversee junior team responsibilities and provide direction.
