Job summary

Wells Group, a boutique accounting and financial advisory firm in New York, seeks a Controller with 7-15 years of experience to join as a salaried full-time team member serving multiple clients in SaaS, media, healthcare, fintech and consumer goods.

The role leads month-end closes, builds accounting processes from scratch, ensures data integrity, and delivers clear reports and KPI analyses to leadership.

Qualifications

• Active CPA mandatory
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
• Big Four experience and/or private company experience preferred
• 7-15 years of accounting experience
• Experience with complex ERP systems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and reports (BS, P&L, management reports)
• Lead month-end close for multiple clients
• Ensure data integrity and internal controls over financial reporting
• Analyze financial results and report variances to leadership
• Lead KPI development and external audit responses
• Oversee General Ledger accounts and multi-department collaboration
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation
• Manage junior team responsibilities
