Job summary

First Horizon Corp. is seeking an Accounting Policy Senior within Corporate Accounting to help implement accounting guidance for business strategies and evaluate new standards.

You will support business lines in determining appropriate accounting treatments and update SEC filings as required. You will lead documentation of standard adoptions, develop internal policies, and prepare disclosures for pending standards while communicating complex technical topics to management and ensuring GAAP and

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Strong technical accounting skills.
• Ability to research Accounting Standards Codification guidance and interpretations.
• Ability to translate technical accounting requirements into transactional guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to understand business economics and related accounting processes.
• Prior financial services, audit and internal control experience is desirable.
• 5+ years of related work experience in public accounting or public company corporate accounting.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of new accounting standards, evaluating effects on current businesses and processes.
• Primary responsibility for documentation of adoption of accounting standards.
• Prepare disclosures for pending accounting standards.
• Develop accounting guidance and documentation for new business strategies and proposed transactions.
• Develop presentations for management regarding impacts of technical accounting issues and new standards.
• Review financial statements and transaction support to ensure accounting guidance was followed.
• Review financial statements for compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Monitor and report emerging accounting issues (AI projects, cryptocurrency, tokenized deposits, transfer of tax credits).
• Development and maintenance of internal accounting policies.
• Preparation of periodic documentation for technical accounting topics (e.g., VIEs, SAB 108, goodwill impairment, long-lived assets impairment, fair value).
