Job summary

Nuveen, a TIAA company, seeks an AVP/Controller to lead accounting operations for the Green Capital sustainable real estate lending business in Dallas. You will supervise a team, manage the month-end close, and ensure accurate US GAAP reporting while partnering with senior management and investment teams.

The role requires extensive experience in controls, audit, and finance, with strong Excel and Netsuite expertise. You will drive process improvements and system upgrades to support growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of controls, audit, accounting, or finance experience.
• University degree preferred.
• 7+ years of controls, audit, accounting, or finance experience.
• Experience with Netsuite or comparable accounting system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates day-to-day general accounting activities to ensure timely US GAAP financial statements.
• Manages monthly, quarterly, and annual close including ad hoc journals for asset and debt transactions.
• Ensures timely and accurate US GAAP work papers and schedules for audits.
• Oversees reconciliation of balance sheet, P&L, and bank accounts.
• Reviews accounting reports for internal and external audiences.
• Collaborates with internal/external auditors to align with organizational goals.
• Manages complex accounting calculations in Excel and Netsuite.
• Oversees system upgrades, process improvements, and new product implementations.
• Maintains investment accounting policies and control processes.
• Monitors team performance and delivers development and engagement.
