The ideal candidate has a strong background in U.S. GAAP, month-end close, and ERP systems, with CPA/public accounting exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Progressive accounting experience within a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close, GL, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining internal controls.
• Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and schedules.
• Assist with analysis of financial statements and management reporting.
• Research and resolve complex accounting and GL matters.
• Support external audit requests and audit schedules.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and close efficiency.
• Partner with finance leadership on accounting initiatives and projects.
• Support system implementations, integrations, and accounting cleanup.

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Consultant to support a corporate, private equity-backed organization. This remote consulting opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who can quickly integrate into an established finance team, take ownership of key accounting functions, and help drive accurate, timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management reporting
• Research and resolve complex accounting and general ledger matters
• Support external audit requests and preparation of audit schedules
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and close efficiency
• Partner with finance leadership on accounting initiatives and special projects
• Support system implementations, integrations, accounting cleanup, and process improvement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Progressive accounting experience within a corporate environment
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Experience supporting audits and maintaining effective internal controls
• Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting system skills
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and effectively partner with cross-functional stakeholders
• Experience within a private equity-backed, high-growth, or evolving corporate environment preferred
• CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred
• Experience with ERP implementations, M&A integration, or finance transformation initiatives is a plus
