Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience.
• Public audit background preferred.
• Strong job stability and career progression.
• Foundational knowledge of debits, credits, GL entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Own key aspects of month-end general ledger accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Perform cost analysis for fuel purchases, commodities, and COGS reporting for generation operations.
• Prepare quarterly regulatory and FERC compliance reports and interpret filings/orders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with revenue, pricing, plant operators, and executive accounting leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement through data requests and non-standard projects.

What You'll Actually Do:

• Own key aspects of month-end general ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Perform in-depth cost analysis, tracking fuel purchases, commodities, and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) reporting for generation operations.
• Prepare quarterly regulatory and FERC compliance reports, interpreting regulatory filings and orders to ensure full operational compliance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with revenue, pricing, plant operators, and executive accounting leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement by applying critical thinking to special projects, data requests, and processes outside standard SOPs.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (CPA preferred).
• 3+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience.
• Very strong preference for public audit—great opportunity to move directly into industry.
• Demonstrated job stability and steady career progression (no job hoppers).
• Strong foundational knowledge of debits, credits, GL entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the curiosity to navigate complex, non-routine accounting problems.
• Advanced Excel skills required; SAP experience is a plus.
• Large, complex industry background is highly transferable.

Where and How Much:

• Target Compensation: $90K–$95K target base + 10% annual bonus and pension plan.
• Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in-office (Tuesday–Thursday) with flex time a0nd remote work options during close.
