Mai Placement in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its lean finance team. The role offers a clear path to Assistant Controller or Controller as the company grows, with mentorship from the CFO and exposure to all aspects of the finance function.

This position is hybrid (4 days onsite) with a salary of $90K–$120K plus benefits. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting and 3–5+ years of accounting experience, healthcare experience preferred, and strong month-end,

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience.
• Healthcare or healthcare services experience required.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Multi-entity experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close and prepare journal entries.
• Maintain the general ledger and reconcile accounts.
• Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Assist with budgeting, audits, and financial analysis.
• Partner directly with the CFO on accounting initiatives.
• Support accounting across multiple entities and clinic locations.
• Review work completed by an offshore accounting resource.
• Help improve accounting processes and prepare the company for future growth.

Position Overview

A mental health services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its lean finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to take ownership, gain exposure to all aspects of the finance function, and grow into an Assistant Controller or Controller role as the company continues to expand.

The organization currently operates multiple outpatient clinics with additional growth planned. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers significant visibility, mentorship, and the opportunity to help build the finance infrastructure.

The Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience
• Healthcare or healthcare services experience required
• Strong understanding of month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
• Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new systems
• Driven, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence
