Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a mission-driven nonprofit in Southern California during a period of increased activity. You will handle month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and grant accounting while collaborating with program and finance teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting or related field and 5+ years of accounting experience, with GAAP knowledge and ERP proficiency. CPA-Track is a plus, and nonprofit experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close procedures
• Experience with general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and journal entries
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus
• CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Perform month-end and year-end close activities
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
• Assist with grant accounting and restricted fund tracking
• Support annual audit preparation and respond to audit requests
• Analyze financial data and investigate variances
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Ensure GAAP compliance and organizational accounting policies
• Partner with program and finance teams to support reporting needs
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years of progressive accounting experience

CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required

GAAP knowledge and month-end close proficiency

Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)

Nonprofit accounting experience a plus
