Job summary

LHH is assisting a well-established nonprofit in finding a Senior Accountant to join the finance team in New York. The role focuses on monthly/quarterly financial reporting, year-end close, treasury support, and regulatory filings, including Form 990 and CFR reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in nonprofit accounting, strong Excel capabilities, and experience with Sage Intacct and Martus. This is a high-visibility position reporting to the Controller.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NYS CFR reporting requirements.
  • Experience with government contracts, grants, and reimbursement-based funding.
  • Background in treasury management, financial statement preparation, audit support, and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing and monitoring program budgets.
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical abilities.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct and Martus is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports.

  • Prepare audit schedules, Form 990 support, and regulatory filings.
  • Complete New York State CFR reporting and related workpapers.

  • Assist with organization-wide and program-specific budgets.
  • Partner with contracts and program teams to ensure accurate government reimbursement reporting.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure nonprofit GAAP compliance.

This is a highly visible role reporting to the Controller, offering exposure to financial reporting, treasury management, budgeting, audits, and government-funded programs.

Key Responsibilities
