Fervo Energy is building the most cost-effective, repeatable geothermal power plants in the world. Achieving this mission requires disciplined financial operations, strong controls, audit-ready documentation, and scalable processes that support Fervo’s transition into a public-company operating environment. • Own the end-to-end lease accounting process, including operating the LeaseQuery system, recording associated journal entries, and actively participating in the relationship with the Land team and other lease stakeholders
  • Analyze financial results and balance sheet accounts, investigating variances and resolving discrepancies with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or standardize recurring accounting and close workstreams

Technical Accounting Research and Documentation

  • Draft technical accounting memos and position papers with oversight from the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting, taking simpler matters to completion and growing into more complex topics
  • Review lease contracts in accordance with ASC 842, including geothermal leases
  • Participate in preliminary contract reviews and support accounting assessments for procurement contracts, PPAs, and other commercial arrangements
  • Maintain clear, audit-ready support that documents purpose, scope, authoritative guidance, inputs, assumptions, conclusions, controls, and reviewer sign-off
  • Communicate the "why" behind technical accounting conclusions, explaining accounting nuance in plain language to cross-functional stakeholders

Audit, Valuation and Controls Support

  • Prepare complete and accurate data for external valuation specialists and auditors, including support for stock-based compensation, warrants, embedded derivatives, and fair value analyses
  • Manage assigned technical accounting PBCs, auditor questions, and review comments through timely resolution
  • Translate technical accounting conclusions into journal entries, close procedures, disclosure support, and control activities
  • Partner with Financial Reporting on 10-Q, 10-K, standalone financial statement, and disclosure support for complex areas
