Job summary

Exelon Corporation is seeking a skilled accountant to join our finance team in Illinois. The role focuses on monthly and quarterly close, accurate financial reporting, and ensuring SOX controls are effective. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to forecast, plan, and report results to leadership.

The ideal candidate has 4–7 years of accounting experience, solid GAAP knowledge, and a proactive approach to process improvements and regulatory support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 4-7 years of related experience.
• Understanding of accounting theory, principles, practices and regulations including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to document a broad range of issues in work papers, disclosures and memos.
• Strong analytical skills in evaluating data and the ability to exercise judgment in various areas.
• Demonstrated use of technology to improve process efficiency.
• Effective teambuilding and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Commitment to high standards of quality and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Monthly and quarterly close – perform and support close with accurate recording and SOX controls (25%).
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports and variance analysis; reconciliation of accounts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support planning, forecasting, regulatory, and business decisions; present results to Leadership.
• Drive process improvements and participate in automation and regulatory-related projects.
• Support audits and regulatory data requests; interact with internal and external stakeholders.
