Job summary

HII is seeking a Corporate Accounting & Financial Reporting Senior Accountant to support SEC filings and the corporate close process from its Newport News, VA location. You will ensure accuracy of financial statements, notes, and MD&A, while coordinating with internal teams and external auditors.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 6 years of exempt experience or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience, plus familiarity with public company reporting and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 6 years of exempt experience or Master’s Degree with 4 years of professional experience.
• Public company financial reporting and SEC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support preparation of SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 11-K, 8-K) and ensure accurate external reporting.
• Manage updates to financial statements, notes, MD&A, and reconcile accounts.
• Perform month-end close and consolidation activities including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist with intercompany transfers, allocations, and variance analyses.
• Coordinate with external auditors and respond to requests.
• Oversee accounting systems and liaise with Financial Systems/IT to address issues.
• Maintain internal controls and policies around financial transactions.

Education

Bachelor's Degree + 6 years exempt experience
