Job summary

Abacus Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for its Manhattan, NY office. The role involves preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns, managing monthly and year-end closes, and overseeing financial statements and journal entries.

You will build strong client relationships and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced public accounting environment. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of accounting experience, public accounting background, excellent communication, and proficiency with CCH

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual and business federal and state income tax returns
• Communicate with clients regarding tax planning strategies and resolve questions
• Oversee the monthly and year-end closing processes for clients
• Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow
• Reconcile complex accounts and review journal entries to ensure accuracy
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and reliable service
• Mentor and support junior staff by providing guidance, training, and reviewing their work
• Coordinate multiple client files and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment
