Job summary

Related Affordable is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of affordable residential properties and tax credit assets under rehab. You will work with the Senior Controller on financial reporting, GL analysis, cash management, and budget variance analysis.

The role partners with regional property management teams and senior leadership to produce monthly and quarterly reports, interfaces with auditors and regulators, and supports tax and GAAP reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related discipline.
• 2+ years of real estate accounting experience, preferably at the residential property level.
• CPA Certification, highly preferred.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards, RealPage, Yardi, or other property management–related software is a plus.
• Federal and local housing agency reporting experience.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
• Clear communicator with the ability to interact with senior leaders.
• Demonstrates accountability and reliability with precision and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting activities, cash management, and AR/AP for assigned properties.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for various accounts.
• Prepare and process job cost requisitions, capital calls, and advance requests.
• Collaborate on monthly cash flow forecasting with Controller and Asset Managers.
• Book journal entries and perform general ledger analysis.
• Close monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounts and prepare work papers.
