Job summary

The City of Pomona is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the Finance Department. This role performs advanced accounting duties across revenues, grants, debt service, and enterprise funds, oversees key processes, conducts complex analyses, and supports budget preparation.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of governmental accounting, reporting, and compliance with laws. Five years' experience, Bachelor's in accounting, and a valid driver's license are preferred; the position

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Five years of responsible accounting experience.
• Experience with grants, enterprise activities, accounts receivable, debt service, payroll accounting, and governmental financial reporting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide staff support to Finance Management and oversee assigned accounting processes.
• Conduct complex financial analyses and assist with budget preparation and monitoring.
• Prepare financial reports including state taxes and city reports; reconcile revenue accounts.
• Process payroll and coding for the general ledger; initiate journal entries.
