Job Title: Senior Accountant
Assignment: Temp to Hire

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant position is responsible for accounting functions related to agency-owned and mixed residential communities, including Homeflex (Project Based Rental Assistance - PBRA). This role involves assisting with property audits, applying accounting standards, and supporting month-end close, financial statement preparation, and account analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Serve as a partner to Property Management/Developer companies (PMDs) by providing financial reconciliations, reporting, and grading.
2. Oversee general ledger, conduct internal audits, and review balance sheet accounts and monthly financial activities.
3. Review and upload monthly property trial balances and generate Financial Performance Reports.
4. Review and approve monthly Operating Income Payments (OIP).
5. Approve system purchase orders and invoices for operating expenses and capital expenditures, ensuring budget availability and correct coding.
6. Monitor Energy Performance Capital Leases, including payments and accounting.
7. Account for miscellaneous revenues such as rooftop leases.
8. Manage accounting for agency-owned and mixed rental communities' monthly subsidy payments, including annual subsidy true-ups.
9. Handle accounting and review of Homeflex monthly payments to owners.
10. Review annual Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) for communities.
11. Manage drawdowns for Capital Fund Projects (CFP) and Low Income Operating Subsidy (Section 9), including reporting and reconciliation.
12. Analyze actual activities versus budgets, providing variance explanations.
13. Prepare wire and account transfer requests, upload positive pay and ACH files, and support cash management duties.
14. Oversee the month-end accrual process.
15. Support the annual audit process.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field; CPA highly desired.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards.
• Exposure to real estate or public housing authority operations preferred.
• Ability to recognize internal control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
• Experience with internal/external audits is a plus.
• Proficiency with Yardi Voyager and Yardi PAYscan preferred.

Working Conditions:

Office environment; may involve bending, stooping, reaching, prolonged sitting/standing, and local travel. Valid Georgia driver’s license required.
