Article Student Living is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to manage property-level accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will support the Property Accounting team and site-level colleagues with financial statements, general ledger analysis, and month-end close. Your success relies on analytical reasoning and communication with both leadership and team members. You will report to the Manager , Property Accounting.
You will work on-site in Chicago at our Fulton Market home office 4 days a week, with a hybrid WFH day on Fridays.
The salary for this role is $85K -$100K annually plus bonus.
Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries in compliance with GAAP and our procedures.
Review journal entries with proper documentation and approval
Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and all balance sheet accounts, maintain clean, supporting documentation for all reconciliations
Analyze property-level activity, financial reports, and trends to identify and correct irregularities, detect fraud, and ensure accurate representation of the property’s operational and financial position
Engage with property and asset management teams to analyze period financial performance.
Participate in the annual operating budget process and period reforecasts through supporting analysis and compilation
Monitor cash for each property to anticipate future cash requirements and mitigate risk.
Support the coordination and preparation of assigned information for monthly and annual reporting and external audits
Help with multiple projects and ad hoc analyses, perform tasks of other accountants
Job Requirements
BA in Accounting or advanced degree or CPA license
3 or more years of experience in property accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Experience with Yardi Voyager and Entrata
Prioritize competing and interdependent tasks
