Stenger Legal Management Services, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a dependable Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in-office.

The role covers payroll, reconciliations, journal entries, and general accounting support to strengthen daily operations in a fast-paced, tech-forward law firm. You will collaborate with Human Resources for payroll updates, perform month-end tasks, and assist with year-end processes, while maintaining confidential records and driving process improvements

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Payroll processing experience is a required qualification.
• Five or more years of bookkeeping, accounting, or payroll experience preferred.
• Strong mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
• Coordinate with Human Resources on hires, terminations, compensation changes, and payroll updates.
• Record payroll entries in the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Complete bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations and resolve items.
• Record and review financial transactions, ensuring accurate coding.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare routine journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities and close.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable and vendor inquiries.
• Assist with W-2s, 1099s, audits, and financial reporting needs.
• Search for improvements and utilize technology to streamline processes.
