Job summary

CFS in the Washington, DC Metro Area is seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to lead the monthly close, prepare financial statements, and partner with stakeholders in a hybrid work environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, Excel proficiency, and CPA or CPA-track preferred, with opportunities for leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience managing month-end close processes.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software systems.
• CPA designation or CPA-track preferred.
• Experience in professional services or related environments a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages
• Monitor billing activity, revenue recognition, receivables, and cash collections
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
• Assist with audit requests, compliance requirements, and special projects
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies and GAAP
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance system utilization
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed
