Job summary

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing partners with a well-established organization in the Washington, DC area to recruit an Accounting Manager who will lead day-to-day accounting operations, oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and staff performance.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership ability, and experience operating in a deadline-driven environment, with hands-on supervision of staff and collaboration with leadership to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong experience with core operational accounting functions required.
• CPA preferred.
• Experience with large ERP systems strongly preferred, including NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Unanet, Costpoint, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly close, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
• Manage general ledger operations and ensure timely, accurate accounting results.
• Review journal entries, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Supervise accounting staff and support team development.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
• Partner with leadership on reporting, audit support, and operational improvements.
• Assist with systems optimization and accounting process standardization.
