Job summary

San Francisco Friends School is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the Controller in maintaining GAAP-compliant financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accurate general ledger activity. This on-site role collaborates with staff, parents, and vendors, staying fully on campus during standard hours.

Responsibilities include month-end close, budget support in Blackbaud, and coordination with Development on gifts and endowments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA track preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or independent school setting.
• Payroll experience with major payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Rippling); ADP experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP; advanced Excel and Word proficiency.
• Experience with Ramp and Blackbaud systems is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication with strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-/year-end closes.
• Support annual budget maintenance in Blackbaud; assist with variance analysis.
• Coordinate with Development to account for gifts, endowments, and restricted assets.
• Manage student/auxiliary billing in Blackbaud Tuition Management and related programs.
• Process vendor invoices; oversee Ramp credit card reconciliations.
