Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage program accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for assigned areas. The role supports audits, forecasting, and financial decision-making in partnership with program leadership and the Accounting Manager.

The position emphasizes accurate reporting, funding compliance, and timely delivery of financial information, with key emphasis on coordination across internal stakeholders and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field required; equivalent combination may be considered.
• Five years of progressively responsible accounting experience including financial reporting and month-end close.
• Experience supporting audits, budgeting/forecasting, and work within grant-funded/nonprofit environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares accurate and timely financial statements for assigned programs and posts journal entries for month-end and year-end close.
• Reviews results for compliance, budget variances, and recommends corrective actions.
• Develops annual budgets and forecasts to support planning and resource allocation.
• Prepares audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Maintains knowledge of funding source regulations and reporting requirements.
