Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee program accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for multiple grant-funded programs. The role blends in-office collaboration with remote work, operating on a 9:00am–5:00pm hybrid schedule Monday to Friday.

The Senior Accountant will manage month-end closes, assist with audits, and provide analysis to support sound financial decision-making in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required or equivalent.
• Five years of progressively responsible accounting experience required, including financial reporting and month-end close.
• Experience supporting audits, budgeting/forecasting, and grant-funded or nonprofit environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares accurate and timely financial statements for assigned programs and posts journal entries for month-end close.
• Reviews financial results for compliance, variances, and budgeting issues; makes corrective adjustments as needed.
• Develops annual budgets and forecasts for assigned programs to aid financial planning and decision-making.
• Prepares audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Maintains knowledge of funding source regulations and reporting requirements.
• Monitors account activity and informs supervisor of exceptions and status to support oversight.
• Builds relationships with program staff and stakeholders to ensure accurate information exchange.
