Job summary

The Salvation Army in North & Central Illinois is seeking a Senior Accountant – Corps to join the Finance Department. The role reports to the General Fund Accounting Manager and supports full-scope accounting for corps/centers, including reconciliations, reporting, and year-end close.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of nonprofit accounting experience, a bachelor's in accounting, and proficiency with Acumatica and Excel for budgets and analyses.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience.
• Strong background in nonprofit general ledger and financial analysis.
• Experience with multi-entity organizations is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or comparable experience.
• Familiarity with web-based accounting systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Prepare bank reconciliations monthly.
• Assist with budgeting and annual close processes.
• Post journal entries and prepare monthly/annual financial reports.
• Provide financial consultation to department managers and staff.
• Serve as backup to other Senior Accountants.
