Job summary

Atkore International in Weatherford, TX is seeking a Senior Accountant to own the month-end close, prepare journal entries, and perform balance sheet reconciliations under US GAAP.

The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience, strong Excel/Word skills, and experience with JD Edwards, SAGE, AS400, and Hyperion. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to policy development and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and data query tools.
• Experience with JD Edwards, SAGE, AS400 and Hyperion preferred.
• Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, complex technical issues in a clear, concise matter, to individuals with little or no technical background.
• Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment with minimum supervision; Ability to work efficiently and accurately with details and fluctuating work volumes

Responsibilities

• Prepare month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly close deliverables
• Assist in preparation of the monthly flux analysis for management review
• Prepare audit support for external and internal audits
• Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures & performing internal control procedures (SOX) in areas of responsibility
• Establish effective relationships and work cross-functionally across the organization
• Drive process improvements and efficiencies for areas of responsibility
• Participate in special projects, analysis, and reporting as required by management
• Develop & implement processes into Shared Services for selected areas
