Job summary

State of Florida in Tallahassee is seeking an Accountant IV in the Finance and Budget Office. Primary duties include auditing and reconciling expenditures, and attaining proficiency in the Florida PALM accounting system to support disbursement processing.

Qualified candidates have three years of accounting or financial management experience, or an associate’s degree with one year of professional experience; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in accounting or financial management, one (1) of which must have been in financial account management, auditing or account reconciliation.
• Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) years of professional experience in financial account management, auditing or account reconciliation can substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Audits and screens contract invoices in MFMP to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Reviews invoices for mathematical accuracy, vendor IDs, remittance details, accounting codes, and approvals.
• Processes disbursements in MFMP and FLAIR within five days of receipt.
• Maintains encumbrances for contract payments in FLAIR and MFMP.
• Researches inquiries from vendors and staff related to invoices, MFMP transactions, POs, payments, and MFMP/FLAIR records.
• Notifies supervisor of issues that may become problems in invoice workflow, approvals, or encumbrances.
