Job summary

MaxIT Consulting – Max Corporate Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join an established, US-based furniture manufacturing company in Chicago, Illinois. This on-site role reports to the CFO and covers the full accounting cycle.

You will manage general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, payables, receivables and financial reporting in a small team, ensuring accurate books and timely close to support monthly results.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of hands-on accounting experience, executing the full accounting cycle end to end.
• Career experience predominantly in manufacturing companies (little or no background in public accounting, nonprofits or service companies).
• Experience in small companies with lean accounting teams (fewer than three people).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software and ERP systems; MAS 90 / Sage 100 strongly preferred.
• Stable career history, with at least one employer of 3 to 5 or more years of continuous service.
• Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to handle confidential information.
• Must live within approximately 45 minutes of the Chicago (60632) worksite.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow).
• Maintain an accurate general ledger: review, post and adjust entries, and support the month-end close.
• Perform GL and bank reconciliations and reconcile other financial accounts.
• Support budgets and forecasts and analyze variances between forecast and actual results.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and responses to auditor requests.
• Process accounts payable with a 3-way match, resolve vendor discrepancies, maintain vendor data and run the weekly check run.
• Handle accounts receivable: post cash receipts and checks, reconcile credit card transactions, resolve customer discrepancies and follow up on past-due accounts.
• Use the company's accounting software and ERP to manage financial data and reporting.
• Work with other departments to support business objectives and special projects.
